Following the ongoing warning strike in Kaduna State, the Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has declared President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, and other members of the union’s headquarters wanted.
El-Rufai in a tweet on Tuesday declared labour President wanted for economic sabotage & attacks on public infrastructure under the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
The Kaduna State Governor noted that anyone that knows where he is hiding should send a message to the Ministry of Justice, Kaduna, adding that “there will be a handsome reward!”
On Monday, Ayuba led members of the labour union in a protest in Kaduna over the decision of the state government to disengage 4,000 workers across the 23 LGAs of the state.
The state government had cited a high wage bill among other issues as the reason for the disengagement.
This development, however, did not go down well with the labour union as it resolved to ground activities in the state with a five-day warning strike which commenced on Sunday.
On Monday, banks, hospitals, train stations, airports were shut while the state was plunged into darkness as electricity workers also joined the mass action.
Similarly, former Chairman of Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu has also been declared wanted by El-Rufai for incitement, injurious falsehood.
Odinkalu on Monday tweeted:
“In Kaduna State today:
Public schools are closed
Filling stations (for petrol) are shut
Public hospitals closed
Govt offices shut
There is no electricity, no water
Kaduna State University has sent its students home
@elrufai is the man with the #rightsize”
The governor, in response to this, said: “KADUNA UPDATE: @ChidiOdinkalu – chartered & certified fake news merchant, false professor & wanted for incitement, injurious falsehood, etc by Kaduna High Court is lying again: (1) all schools (2) most filling stations & (3) public hospitals operating by noon. You are cursed!”
