The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, is greatly saddened with the death of Noble Lady Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi, the widow of the late former Head of State of Nigeria, General Johnson Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi, who passed away in the early hours of Monday 23rd August 2021 at the age of 88.

While mourning the demise of the Matriarch, SGF described Noble Lady Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi as a devout Christian, the epitome of humility, a philanthropist of note, and a home builder as well as the founding member of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, (NAOWA) – an apex body which provides welfare for the wives of officers in the Nigerian Army.

He notes that her departure would leave a big vacuum in the meetings of First Ladies, as an embodiment of experience and knowledge in state matters, being the oldest, whose contributions and wise counsel would be missed.

Until her death, Noble Lady Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi served as a Board member of several public and private companies, including humanitarian organisations.

SGF commiserates with the Government and people of Abia State, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, her family, religious associates; and prays to God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest.
