The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, on Monday in Abuja, has disclosed that it is not the will of his Ministry to reopen schools on January 18, 2021.
Adamu Adamu at the national briefing on COVID-19 said “in fact, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and the Ministry of Education had agreed on suspending resumption of schools due to the increasing cases of covid-19 in the country”.
The Education Minister explained that the State Governors and other stakeholders in the states have refused to accept further closure of schools as advised by the Presidential Task Force.
“We do not own or control the state schools” he said. He assured that the PTF and the Ministry of Education will continue to engage the stakeholders in order to keep the children and schools safe.
